Hi! My name is Heidi Van Schooten and I have been working with clay for over three decades. I am passionate about creating functional hand made pottery that people can use in their everyday lives. I have BA in Studio Art from the University of Minnesota and a Masters in Education from Saint Catherine University. Beyond studio work, I have had the pleasure of teaching art at all levels: young children, high school students and adults through community education. I live on the West Side of St. Paul with my husband of over 25 years, our two children and several cats. I feel privileged to share my pottery with you. I believe there is a unique connection between a handmade vessel and the person who is using it. I hope my enjoyment of the making process, from centering on the wheel, to creating a finished piece shows in the work and that you enjoy using it as much as I do creating it to be used.
